How to record vocal reaction time (case 10734)

Hello I am new to this forum and I have built this experiment where the subjects have to say out their response loudly. I programmed the experiment on Psychopy and everything is working fine. But I am not able to get the vocal reaction time. Can anyone please tell me what device I should use to get that? Its rather urgent, please help.

Are you trying to use PsychoPy in conjunction with DirectRT or MediaLab, or are you trying to figure out how to do a task you programmed in Psychopy by only using DirectRT?

Hello Jason, thank you so much for replying back! I am neither familiar with the Direct RT or the Media lab but my experiment needs to record the vocal reaction time and presently the latest version of psychopy is not doing it. I googled and came to this site. So, please tell me which one suits my experiment? I am getting the .wav file and .csv file stored in my data though. I don't want to extrapolate already vocally recorded response, I want to get the response recorded as soon as the subject says the word aloud. I hope it makes sense.

DirectRT would be the product for you to use to get reaction times to vocal responses. You can download a copy here (http://www.empirisoft.com/download.aspx) and request a trial code that will allow you 3 weeks of access. You could then see firsthand if it would fit what you are looking for. We are also available and happy to help with any questions you may have regarding the use of the software.

Hello Jason, thanks for replying back and sending me the link. I am trying to request a trial code to open the Direct RT icon on my desktop. Will you please let me know where do I ask for the request code? Also I am trying to incorporate the pychopy feature with the Direct RT (hope I figure it out), but I need to get the trial code first.

After you download and install DirectRT, open the program by double-clicking on the DirectRT.exe file or any shortcuts that you created during the installation process. You will see a box in the center of your screen that has a 15 character code beginning with a D. Send that code and a message asking for trial code authorization to service@empirisoft.com. You will receive an email that has a 6 digit number. After you open DirectRT and see the same box as before, enter the 6 digit number in the bottom box that has a 0 in it. This will give you access to DirectRT.
