presenting subjects with data based on their prior response.
I would like to conduct an experiment in which questions are changed according to prioir answeres.
Here is the script:
1. Subjects are presented with 10 items which they need to rearrange accoring to the order of importance.
2. The first 5 items should be moved forward to the next stage, where subjects are asked to rank each of the five items on a likart scale (1-7) .
3. This table of 5 items is the base for an automatic creation of two other tables.
3.1 The first table is very simillar ( but not identical) to the table created in 3. The correlation between the tables should be around 0.8
3.2 The second table is dissimilar to the table of paragraph 3. the correlation should be lower than 0.2
4. all of the above should happeen in real time, while the subjects is scrolling from one page to the next.
Can it be done with Media lab/Direct RT?
Thanks and BR
This could be done, but it would be tricky. You can use the Ranking item type in MediaLab for the rankings, no problem. You can track the rankings of the items in a responses.xls file (see Advanced Features). You can then create some new variables with conditionals that determine which variables will be picked and then present those in your subsequent items. Not sure if you have used the Advanced Features of MediaLab before. If so, check this out and see if it helps:

If not, take a look at the section on advanced features in the user's guide and see if it starts to make sense. There is a good sample that illustrates what you can do with it.
Hope that helps,
