Can I present randomized picture and sound file simultaneously?

Can I present randomized picture and sound file simultaneously?

    Hi Blair,

I'm working on an experiment that requires simultaneous presentation of a picture and spoken word pair (sound file). I need to randomize the pictures and sound files so that the picture/word pair combinations are different for each subject. Using the StimList function, I can randomize the pictures with no problem. Can I also randomly select sound files using a StimList and present them at the same time? I don't know if using a stim list is possible with sound files.

    Thanks,
    Becky

    Hi Becky,

Using the StimList function for this task should do just fine.
StimLists work with any normal stimuli, except for other StimList types.

There should be no problem in presenting both at the same time, simply use a clear value of 0 in the location column to do so.
    Does this make sense?

    Regards,
    Trevor

    Hi Trevor,

Great, that worked. I wasn't sure how to use the $ and ! functions together, but figured out that the stim list should be typed !final sounds\acre.txt. Thanks!
